CHAAG membership is open to eligible organisations operating within Ghana customs brokerage, customs house agency and freight-forwarding industry.

Applicants must demonstrate lawful operation, professional competence and a commitment to CHAAG values, governing rules and Code of Professional Conduct.

Who May Apply

• Operates as a Customs House Agent, Customs Broker or Freight Forwarder in Ghana
• Is legally registered and in good standing
• Holds the licences or approvals required for its activities
• Has qualified personnel responsible for its customs operations
• Is willing to comply with CHAAG constitution, policies and Code of Conduct
• Meets the membership requirements approved by the CHAAG Council

Applications from affiliated industry organisations or individual practitioners will be considered only under membership categories formally approved by CHAAG.

Regulatory Eligibility

The Ghana Revenue Authority states that Customs House Agents are licensed and overseen by its Customs Division. Its published licensing requirements include Ghanaian ownership, a certificate of proficiency in customs business, payment of prescribed fees and annual licence renewal. Applicants seeking CHAAG membership as Customs House Agents must therefore provide evidence of a valid GRA Customs House Agent licence or other appropriate regulatory authorisation.

• Completed CHAAG membership application form
• Formal application letter
• Certificate of Incorporation or Registration
• Current company profile
• Valid GRA Customs House Agent licence, where applicable
• Current Tax Clearance Certificate
• Current SSNIT Clearance Certificate, where applicable
• Customs proficiency certificate for the responsible officer
• Details of directors and authorised company representatives
• Principal business and contact addresses
• Evidence of operations within the customs or freight-forwarding industry
• Signed commitment to CHAAG Code of Professional Conduct
• Any additional document required by the CHAAG Council

CHAAG may request original documents or independently verify submitted information before deciding an application.

Application Process

1. Review the Requirements

Confirm that your organisation meets the applicable membership and regulatory requirements.

2. Complete the Application

Provide accurate company information and attach all requested supporting documents.

3. Submit for Review

Send the completed application through CHAAG approved online or Secretariat submission channel.

4. Verification

The Secretariat or designated membership committee will review the application and may request clarification, additional documents or an interview with the applicant.

5. Council Decision

Eligible applications will be submitted for consideration in accordance with CHAAG governing rules.

6. Membership Activation

Successful applicants will receive formal notification and instructions regarding applicable fees, onboarding and membership responsibilities.

Submitting an application does not guarantee admission.

Membership Fees

• An application or registration fee
• Annual membership dues
• Other charges properly approved under CHAAG governing rules

Current fees and payment instructions will be communicated by the CHAAG Secretariat. Payments should be made only through officially approved CHAAG channels.

Responsibilities of Members

• Maintain all required business and professional licences
• Comply with Ghana customs laws and applicable regulations
• Uphold integrity, professionalism and ethical conduct
• Provide accurate information to clients and public institutions
• Pay approved membership dues when due
• Keep membership records and contact details current
• Participate responsibly in Association activities
• Respect decisions made under CHAAG constitution
• Protect the reputation of CHAAG and the customs brokerage profession
• Cooperate with fair disciplinary and dispute-resolution procedures

Renewal and Continued Eligibility

Membership may be renewed periodically in accordance with CHAAG governing rules.

Continued membership may require confirmation of:

• Valid regulatory licences
• Current statutory clearances
• Payment of membership dues
• Compliance with the Code of Conduct
• Updated company and representative information

Membership may be suspended or terminated where a member no longer meets the eligibility requirements or breaches CHAAG governing rules.

Important Regulatory Notice

CHAAG membership does not replace a licence issued by the Ghana Revenue Authority or any other statutory approval.

Admission to CHAAG confirms membership of the Association only. Every member remains responsible for securing and maintaining the licences, registrations and clearances required to conduct business in Ghana.
