Professionalism, Integrity and Responsibility

Every CHAAG member is expected to conduct business lawfully, ethically and professionally. This Code protects clients, strengthens public confidence and safeguards the reputation of the Association and Ghana customs brokerage profession.

Members Shall

Act With Integrity

Be honest, transparent and accountable in all professional transactions. Members must not participate in fraud, bribery, misrepresentation or improper customs practices.

Comply With the Law

Observe Ghana customs laws, regulations and applicable requirements issued by the Ghana Revenue Authority and other competent institutions.

Serve Clients Responsibly

Provide accurate advice, disclose relevant fees, protect client interests and avoid making misleading claims or promises.

Maintain Confidentiality

Protect confidential client, commercial and regulatory information unless disclosure is authorised or legally required.

Avoid Conflicts of Interest

Disclose any personal or commercial interest that could improperly influence professional judgement or compromise a client interests.

Maintain Professional Competence

Keep informed about customs procedures, trade regulations and industry developments through continuous learning and professional development.

Respect Regulators and Colleagues

Engage public officials, industry partners and fellow members respectfully. Members must promote cooperation, fair competition and responsible professional relationships.

Protect CHAAG Reputation

Use CHAAG name, logo and membership status responsibly. Membership must never be presented as a substitute for a statutory licence or regulatory approval.

Accountability

Suspected breaches may be reported through CHAAG approved complaints process. All complaints should be handled fairly, confidentially and in accordance with the Association governing rules.

Where misconduct is established, appropriate action may include guidance, a warning, suspension or termination of membership, subject to due process.
